    Brief Introduction of Huangshan

     

    Yellow Mountain, also named Huangshan, lies in the eastern part of China, is famous for its marvelous and beautiful scenery. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in China. The landform of Yellow Mountain is a kind of typical granite mountains and forests. It was the result of several movements of lithosphere as well as the work of nature during the long geological age. 77 peaks are more than 1,000 metres above sea level. Granite limestone towers and oddly-shaped rocks spread all over the scenic area.

     

    Mountain Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) not only boasts of its various seas: sea of unique peaks, sea of clouds, sea of pines, sea of flowers, sea of rocks and sea of snow (in Winter)…but the magnificent sunrise and sunset. Tourists who come here are mainly amazed at their grand beautifulness and captured by the mountains five wonders: clouds, odd pines, grotesque rocks, springs and magnificent sunrise.     Travel Tips

     

    A.  As the Mt. Huangshan climbs high, the temperature goes down. Although some hotels offer overcoat rentals, tourists are highly recommended to bring their own coats or heavy jackets even during a summer season. It is always wise to check the weather report a day before.

    B.  During summer thunderstorm seasons, visitors are not allowed to hold umbrellas as the wind could catch them and cause fall-off of the mountain. Wear raincoats for safety reasons.

    The best locations to watch the sunrise on Mt. Huangshan are:
    C.  Dawn Pavilion, Refreshing Platform, Lion Peak, Rosy Clouds Peak, Bright Peak Summit, Jade Screen Peak, Lotus Blossom Peak and Heavenly Capital Peak. 
    D.  The best time to watch sunglow on Mt. Huangshan is before and after sunrise.
    E.  The best time to appreciate the seas of clouds on Mt. Huangshan is on clear days after rainy or snowy weather from F.  September to May. Tourists are recommended to change their viewing locations according to the heights of clouds.
    G.  Huangshan International Tourism Festival is usually held in October or November each year. Tourists are appreciated to wear their folk customs to participate in the Opening Ceremony and other events and activities, such as exhibitions of handcrafts, paintings and calligraphies, and evening parties.
