    Yu Garden

They were commissioned in 1559, built over the course of 19 years, destroyed in 1842 during the first Opium War, and later rebuilt and reopened to the public in their current incarnation in 1961. Pathways wind through rock gardens and bamboo stands, and stone bridges cross pools filled with bright carp.

    The Bund

It is considered the city’s symbol since the 1920s. It is often referred to as “buildings in multinational styles of architecture”, as many different styles of European buildings can be found here.

    Jade Buddha Temple

In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty.

    People’s Square

Located at the center of Shanghai, the People’s Square is a garden-like square that integrates administration, culture, transportation, and commerce.

    Shanghai Museum

It is a veritable treasure house of ancient Chinese art and housed 120,000 precioous relics. Bronzes, pottery, paintings and calligraphies are distinctive features of the Museum’s collection.

    Former French Concession

The French Concession is the area of Shanghai once designated for the French.

    Xintiandi

Xintiandi is popular spot for young people, particularly spot for young people, particularly well-heeled yuppies. It is a place where you can find a lot of restaurants and clubs. Besides these pubs you can also see some traditional Shanghai-style lodgings (shikumen) which are a unique blend of European and Chinese design. There is a nice miniature museum, showing the configuration and interior of a recreated 1930s shikumen house.
