    Taiyuan - Pingyao

     Ping Yao is an integral and well-preserved ancient Chinese city from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1(368-1911). Its urban plan and defensive line have not significantly changed since. It is now r kenowned for its well-preserved ancient city wall and the imposing buildings associated with branking, for which Ping Yao was the major centre for the whole of China in the 19th and early 20th ccenturies.

     Day 1 Taiyuan to Pingyao

      Jinci Temple - Jinci Temple is the most    famous of all the historical relics in Taiyuan, with an artistic combination of ancient garden and architecture. Inside the temple are painted maiden figurine in fine design from the Song Dynasty, cypresses dating back to the Zhou Dynasty and Nanlao Spring, which are reputed as Jinci Temples three wonders. Jinci Temple is the first choice for tourists to see in Taiyuan.

      Qiao Familys Compound - Located 30 kilometers northwest of Pingyao, the Qiao family compound is famed for being the setting of the film, Raise the Red Lantern, starring Gong Li, was filmed. It has a pristine and imperialistic feel to the architecture here, and makes a great visit while you are passing through the ancient town. There are six courtyards, totaling more than 300 rooms, making a massive impression on all who come to admire the beauty. La casa de la familia de Qiao was built by Qiao Guifa, an formerly unknown humble tea merchant who eventually rose to riches and made this his home. It is considered an architectural masterpiece of ancient China.

    Pingyao Ancient Town -  Pingyao is an ancient city that was named a World Heritage Site in honor of its extraordinary city wall which dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Within this incredible work of architecture lie 30 attractions for tourists to enjoy, including beautiful ancient temples and shrines. The old city is also lined with colorful shops and great restaurants where Pingyao Beef, the city’s culinary specialty, is served.
     The Ancient City Wall - the ancient city wall of Pingyao with nearly 3,000 years of history, at present, basically keeps the original appearance of city wall constructed in early Ming Dynasty.
      Rishengchang Exchange Shop -      Rishengchang means “sunrise prosperity,” this shop is Chinas first bank and was originally established in 1823. Now converted into a museum, there are 21 buildings surrounding three courtyards. On either side of the front yard are the counters, main banking activities were carried out in the middle courtyard house, which functioned as an exchange center.
      The Ming and qing Street - With a length of 440 meters, the street used to be the commercial center of Pingyao ancient city. The traditional and orderly-located shops of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are still well preserved. The cross-street Town House, is the highest building of the city (18.5 meters high). On its top, you can take a whole view of the Ming - Qing Street
