    Beijing, a municipality directly under the Central Government is the capital of the Peoples Republic of China and the countrys political, economic, cultural and transportation center as well as a famous historic city.  Geographically located in the northwest part of the North China Plain, and covering an area of 16,800 square km. 

    Beijing is the second largest city in China with a population of more than 11 million. It has a semi-humid continental climate in the warm temperate zone. With an annual average temperature of 12 degrees Centigrade and rainfall of 641 millimeters, Beijing is neither cold in winter nor very hot in summer. The best seasons in Beijing are Spring and Autumn. Beijing is indeed an ideal place to visit all round the year. 

    Beijing and the Berau
    Beijing is the political center of China where the Partys Central Committee, the State Council, ministries and commissions under the government, and more than 140 foreign embassies are located. It is also an international exchange center. 

    Beijing Economy
    Beijing is an economic center of China. Being one of the biggest industrial bases in China, Beijings industrial production is the second largest in value among all Chinese cities. An industrial system with iron and steel, coal, machinery, chemical and petroleum, textiles, electronics and other industries as its mainstays has already taken shape. Beijings arts and crafts are famous for their long history, great variety, and superb workmanship. The most    popular ones among them are cloisonne, ivory carving,  jadeware, carved lacquer ware, snuff bottles, silk flowers and Beijings embroidery etc.

    Beijing History
    Beijing has a long history. As early as 500,000 years ago, ancient "Peking Man" lived at Zhoukoudian 30 miles southwest of Beijing. King Wu was the first to declare Beijing the capital city in 1057 B.C. Established in 1045 B.C., Beijing is an ancient cultural city, serving for 800 years as the capital of the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.Beijing was also known as Peking by the Western world before 1949. In the early nineteen twenties, Beijing became the cradle of Chinas new democratic revolution. The May Fourth Movement against imperialism and feudalism began in 1919. On October 1st, 1949, Chairman Mao announced to the world the founding of the Peoples Republic of China.Beijing is also known as a tourist city for its many places of interest, including ancient architecture, royal gardens, mansions, towers, temples, palaces, and modern structures. It is a gathering place of artists and other talented people.
