• Hainan Introduction
  • Hainan Province, also called Qiong, is located in the southernmost part of China. The main island is Hainan Island, which is the second largest island in China, and consist of Xisha, Nansha, Zhongsha and its sea areas. The province covers an area of 34,000 square kilometers and has a population of 6.7 million.

    The Hainan Island is like a circle island. From the center spread outward, the rugged hills, plains and sea were linked one after another. The plain area covers more than 60 per cent of the total island. The main rivers are Nandu River, Wanquan River and Changhua River. It enjoys a tropical monsoon climate and has no frosting period all year round. Those islands in the South Sea are flat and small. Zengmuansha is the hottest place in the southwest. Iron ore and some other gold ore materials account for 70 percent of the nations mine resource. Reservation of oil and natural gas are strong. And there are rich tropical sea and fishery resources as well.

    Hainan Province was established in 1988, and thereafter had been designated as a special economic zone in China, and became one of the key economic cities and the youngest province in China. With the high speed of economic development, it becomes the key production base of tropical products in China, with products include sugar cane, peanuts, tropical fruits, seafood, timber and plastic.

    The traffic infrastructure on the island is well developed. There are air, railway and water transports around the island. Specially, the railway connects the south and the west part of the island.

    In Hainan Province, the climate is warm all the year round with sunshine most of the times. With blue clear sea and fresh air, couple with soft and small sands and beaches, the island is covered with beautiful tropical plants and is definitely one of the well known international tourist spots. There are many famous places to visit, such as the Five Officials Memorial Temple in Haiku City, the scenic spot of End-of-the-Earth, Dadong River and Yalong Bay in Sanya City. The traditional productions are shell carving, pineapple, coconut, mango, and bird-nests.

    Yalongwan (Gulf)

    Located 25 kilometers east of Sanya city, the beach, which extends for 7 km along the blue seawater, with green palm trees and hills behind, is regarded as the best beach in Hainan province. People can get there by taking a taxi from the center of the town.

    Enjoying the same latitude and similar weather conditions as Hawaii, the beach in recent year is of more and more attraction. The water is clear, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds in it. Playing and pursuiting in the water with the tropical fish swimming around, simmers can fully relax themselves. Now, a new resort, with tasteful manner, is under construction. In order to protect the marine resource and environment, commercial fishing is forbidden here.

    There are many shops, restaurants, and hotels, including, Gloria Resort and Cactus Resort, the best hotels in Hainan Island, providing the necessary service for you. And a museum, with a large collection of seashells, is near the beach.

    After playing in the sea, you can also have a mountain climbing, golf playing, hiking, and submarine cruises here.
    A nice trip from the bay is to Wild Boar Island: You can go to the island by taking a boat from the bay. Since prices for this vary, so be attention to ask around at your hotel or in the restaurants on the bay.

    Tianyahaijiao

    Located at the southwest seaside of Sanya, Tianyahaijiao, means the end of sky and the rim of the sea, are marked by several 2-men-high grotesque stones. It covers a land area of 10. 4sq kilometer and a sea area of 6sq kilometer. Ancient poets had lost here in fanciful thoughts of whether there is a sea and sky beyond the one in front of your eyes when they roamed in Tianyahaijiao. Stand on the stones, you can see the southern coastal scenery: the blue sea, the azure sky, the white waves and the dots of sails.

     

    Sanya

     

     

    Sanya is a busy port and tourist resort on the southern tip of Hainan Island. It has an area of 1,887 square kilometers, and a population of 3.8 million.


    The northern part of Sanya are mountains, the southern part are plains. It has a tropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 25.4oC. Annual rainfall averages 1,450 millimeters.

    Sanya is rich in forest and water resources. Mineral deposits include quartz, limestone, iron, and phosphorus.
    Industries include sugar refining, salt making, shipbuilding, and electronics. The chief farm products are rice, sugarcane, rubber, piper, and timber. Sanya also has many seafood, including sharks fins, abalone, and sea cucumbers.


    Sanya is a hub of transportation in the southern area of Hainan Island.
    Sanya Port connects Sanya with Guangzhou, Beihai, and Shenzhen.


    Sanya lies on a peninsula with beautiful beaches and charming scenery. The regions premier tourist attractions include Dadonghai, Tianya Haijiao, and the yalong Gulf. The famous products are mackerel , red snapper, sea cucumbers, sea horses, pearls, sharks fins, abalone, edible birds nests, and agalloch eaglewood.
