• Emei Mountain
  • Emeishan or Emei Mountain is one of the four most sacred Buddhist Mountains in China, is about 150 km (or 93 miles) southwest of Chengdu City.Sichuan Province. Emei Mountain is known for its steep cliffs, lofty peaks, roaring waterfalls, gurgling springs, Emeishan Emei Mountain towering trees and fragrant flowers.

    Emei Mountain is among the holiest of places for Chinese Buddhists, and as such, difficult to summarize in a breif paragraph.

    Pilgrims come to visit the hundered or so shrines, temples and other holy spots along the mountain. Trekkers visit to do the 3100 meter hike and enjoy, weather permitting, some of the loveliest views in Sichuan.

    Admission, like the stairs that bring you to the top, is steep; 120 for a pass, and an additional 10 -20 to get into the various holy sites.
