Karakuli Lake is in Kashgar about 1500 kilometers from Urumqi in the southwest of Xinjiang. It is about 3600 meters above sea level. with its surrounding mountains Muztagata which is 7546 meters above sea level and the Gongeer Peaks at 7719 meters above sea level. this is the best place for tourists who love horse-back trekking and mountain climbing and have fun in Xinjiang horse-back trekking around the lake takes about 3 hours at most!!!! try it!! There are also some villages near the Lake. Kyrgiz people is very friendly to visitors. The Muztagata means the father of glaciers in native languages.
