The train to Tibet is a daily-run line. Usually it departs from Beijing West Railway Station at about 21:30 and arrive in Lhasa on the third day 18:04. In total it runs about 44hours and 4064 kilometers.

Usually you need to buy the soft sleeper tickets for the almost 2 days trip.  4 persons will stay in one cabin. You may have meals in the dining car and they provide both of simple western style food and Chinese style food.

The highlights of the Tibet train experience are you will see the grandeur of snow-caped mountains, glaciers as well as the peaceful and clear rivers and lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. One very important thing you need to know is that for foreigners you can only get the ticket by join in a package tour to Tibet with Local Travel Agency in China. If you buy it with other sellers you may not be able to board on the train since that you have to show your Tibet Travel Permit to the conductor on train.
