Abakh Khoja Tomb - Five kilometers (3.1 miles) northeast of Kashgar, an ancient Islamic building nestles among poplar trees. its tower points to the azure sky. A masterpiece of Uigur architecture, this is Abakh Khoja Tomb, 17th Century family cemetery of the Kashgar area Islamic leader.

Brief Introduction

The tomb consists of five parts; gate tower, chapel, the large worship temple, a hall for learning scripture and the tomb chamber, which is the main building among this series of constructions. The tomb chamber is rather mighty and splendid. It is the most magnificent and exquisite dome-style structure in Xinjiang. The walls of this chamber are decorated by green marble bricks with yellow and blue tiles enchased among them. There are colorful and beautiful patterns and apothegms in Arabic on those tiles. The gate of the tomb is located to the south of the chamber. The gesso flowers on walls of both sides of the gate are elegant and refined.
